Sitting meditation is an act of civilisation.
These days we are so busy, we don't even have time to breathe. To take a
moment to sit in stillness and cultivate peace, joy and compassion -
that is civilisation. And it is priceless.
We have to learn to live our life as a human
being deeply. We need to live every breath deeply, so that we have
peace, joy and freedom as we breathe.
Concentrating 100% on our breathing, or on our
steps, liberates us. We become a free person in just a few seconds,
free to transform the habit energies of our ancestors.
What's the point of walking meditation? Why do
I practice sitting meditation? Because I like it. There's no point
doing these practices if you don't enjoy them. It's not hard labour.
Every breath can bring us peace, joy and freedom.

"If we eat with compassion and mindfulness, we
can stop contributing to global warming, and heal and preserve our
precious planet." - From the the new Contemplations Before Eating
linked below.
Mindfulness is Enlightenment itself. You only
need a few seconds to get enlightened. To be aware that you are alive,
with a body that is strong enough and healthy enough - that is
Enlightenment. Our body is a wonder.
